New Addition

My girlfriend just picked up this little guy from a private shelter the other day. We scrolled through several Harley and motorcycle related books looking for name ideas. He found them rather boring. Nothing directly related but we decided on Presley. Soon he'll be "The King" of the garage.

Settled In

Finally have the Galaxie in the garage. I only get a few days out of the week to really mess around with her but she's coming along. I've been slacking on updates, so I'll try to keep things posted on the Galaxie and CB750 progress.

Today @ Tropical Willie's Tattoo

Every year the guys at Tropical Willie's give up their parking lot on the Thursday before Biketoberfest. This will be the first year I will actually be able to attend, since I've landed a job that is much more flexible with taking days off. Pictures to follow...

Customer Appreciation

One of my customers is from London and while he was in picking up some parts the other day he brought me this British magazine. They sure as hell know what they're doing over there. Some really awesome builds and no it's not just Harley-Davidsons, in fact their are more metrics and British bikes than anything. This particular issue had a supercharged BSA in it! Check out "Back Street Heroes" when you find the time.

Stretched CB750

I've been given the opportunity to take on this stretched CB750 but I'm not sure what to do with it? Any ideas...

Fight Like Hell For It

I haven't been keeping up with the blog as of lately. Not making excuses but I just moved to Orlando to start fresh and follow my passion. I'm in school five hours a day, five days a week and I just picked up a full-time job at one of the local Harley dealers. I have a day off from work so I'm using it to hopefully finish rewiring my friends CB750. I found Steve McQueen's quote "When I believe in something, I fight like hell for it." rather fitting for my current change.

Never Felt Better

Boys No Good is a local 'pop punk' band from right here in Jacksonville, FL. Not only are they all talented musicians, they are also close friends of mine. Take the time to give their album a FREE listen on punknews.org, I think you'll find it quite catchy. Careful, you may find yourself singing along after a few times through. If you do like what you hear, you're in luck... their album was just released today! You can get a digital copy on iTunes or buy a hard copy on Amazon.com. You may say I'm just being bias but that's not the case. These guys are damn good and ever since getting a copy of the album at Saturday's release show here in town, I haven't been able to stop listening. My favorite song... 'Bold City Tigers'

Hard Work For A Beer

It's been a long time since I've taken part is some real manual labor. I'm talking slingin' sledge hammers and tearing down walls. A good friend and fellow motorcycle enthusiast is building his dream bar and I've spent most of the weekend doing demolition. It's looking good so far, he hopes to have the doors open and the beer flowing by late October.

Florida Strong

I had the opportunity of meeting Jason from Dime City Cycles a year ago while planning for the Wolfgang Oil Mixer here in Jacksonville. We first drew contact via email and to be completely honest I forgot how I even ran across the DCC webpage, I think it may have been on www.dotheton.com. After throwing emails back and forth he had not only agreed to donate some stuff for the event but him and the DCC crew loaded up their truck and brought their bikes to the event. I've always had a weak spot for cafe style bikes, as that was what first caught my eye when getting into motorcycles. Even a year ago they were building some amazing looking cafe bikes and the best part about them was they weren't your overplayed CB750's! Since last August they have caught the worlds eye and were even part of the first season of "Cafe Racer TV" on HD Discovery.  Now Jason and the guys are traveling, sponsoring major events and this year they are even headed to Bonneville to race! Best part is... it's all right here in the 'Sunshine State'. Props to them for making shit happen in Florida! www.dimecitycycles.com

"The Ant Pile" - SmokeOut 2011

Damn what a time we had in North Carolina this past weekend. I got to spend it with some truly awesome people. I've compiled a list of words that help paint a bigger picture of what our trip consisted of...

moonshine, backwoods, tents, ants, cactus, budweiser, jameson, fire, gasoline, tits, whores, rockabilly, angels, boston, rain, heat, curves, hills, miles, drunks, friends and oh yeah... motorcycles

HotLanta's Honda C70

Right after graduating High School a few of my close friends moved out on their own and their rental property soon became the place for all of us to hang. If you were in the Riverside area of Jacksonville at that time, then you had most likely heard about the "Menna Street House". Shortly after moving in, a few friends came across a motor-less C70 'project'. They had full intentions of fixing her up but she quickly went from the garage to the tree in the front lawn. To be completely honest I'm not even sure what happen to that thing but when I saw these photos on Gas Cap Kustoms, I had a flashback to 2006.

Getting a little personal...

This was my first car... after my near death experience. I normally don't get too personal but I figured I'd share this photo with you. I bought my first car  after working a summer job at a local grocery store. Come March my Junior year in High School (2004) I had saved up enough cash to sign away. For any motor enthusiast it's easy to understand how much your first car means to you.

Driving home from Eustis, FL in the summer between my Junior and Senior year, I drifted off the road and plowed into the back of an electrical truck. I have NO recollection of the accident or the few minutes before it but according to paramedics the windshield had fallen in on the dash as my body moved forward toward the steering wheel, severing my throat nearly from ear to ear. To shorten the long story, my mother ended up coming to my rescue until the paramedics arrived and I was rushed to the hospital.  I was placed in ICU after a vascular surgeon had done all that he could. The wait began and I awoke from a self-induced coma three days later with a broken jaw, no voice and 52 staples across my jaw-line.

Later I learned that the doctors told my parents upon arrival to the hospital that I had lost far too much blood and there was really no way to save their son.

I'm telling you all this because yesterday, June 14th was exactly 7 years since that fateful day. I can't lie, there are days upon days that go by and it will not even cross my mind but when I sit down and go through what happen on that day, I realize how lucky I am to be alive. A life saved, for how long... who knows but I refuse to waste a single day of what's been given back to me.

BASTOGNE @ The NEW Dive Bar

I swear if it wasn't for LeContainer, I'd never have a cool photo for fliers. My good friends BASTOGNE are playing again tonight at Dive Bar here in Jacksonville. Dive just remodeled and they are now catering to those who love live music. New look, new sound, new drink specials at Dive Bar! 331 East Bays St. Jacksonville, FL

First Smoke Out

So looks like I may be going to Smoke Out for my first time. From Jacksonville it's a 800 mile round-trip. If all works out I'll be meeting a few of the DeadBeats in Savannah, GA and riding the rest of the way with them. Hopefully I can get my bars on by then.

Back From Boston Mike's

Made it back to Jacksonville around 2am last night. The ride home from Sanford took a bit longer than expected, as we had a little run in with an Ormond Beach sherriff going into "the loop" as everyone calls it. He was pretty lenient and understanding when it came to my friends old Triumph and lack of an operating tail light. However, Boston Mike's was a blast! We rode into DeLand early Sunday to meet up with a few of the DeadBeat guys. Much thanks to Jeremiah for his hospitality. Rolled into Boston Mike's around 3pm and did the whole meet and great, ate some food and drank some brew. There truly were some awesome scoots out there, I just got occupied with conversation and put photo taking on the backburner. We then rode out to Little Fish Huge Pond, a local watering hole of the Sanford area... chilled for a bit then back on the bikes for the long A1A/US1 ride home.
